Live shrimp is kept in stock based on
availability. The shrimp we get is
both from the Gulf (Central Florida) or Oak
Hill. Our Shrimp is caught the night
before we get it, so they are as fresh as it
gets. We are the only Bait Shop west of
I-95 that has live shrimp. The size of
the shrimp depends on the catch, our
distributor does not sort according to size
prior to delivery.
Keeping your
Shrimp
Alive
There are two main things
that keep your shrimp alive, AIR and
TEMPERATURE. You can use a bubbler or
a water pump that blasts oxygen into the
water. Keeping your shrimp cool will
slow down their metabolism, and reduce the
amount of their secretions which is high in
ammonia and will kill them. It is not
recomended that you add ice to the water
without first putting it in a zip-loc bag
first and place that in your bucket. I
personally freeze bottled water and place
the bottle in the water. Shrimp become
very active at 72 degrees. |
